1. Make A Party Playlist

A party is only as good as it’s background music. So before you begin, sit down in front of your computer and create an amazing playlist for your party on Spotify.

This list will serve two purposes. The first is to entertain your guest at your party. The second is to entertain YOU while you complete your party prep.

Nothing is more motivating than dancing around and cleaning to your favorite songs.

2. Get Busy Cleaning

Now that you have your rocking playlist, it’s time to get started with the cleaning. Focus on one room at a time and devote yourself to it before moving on to the next task.

For instance, tell yourself you’ll spend one hour cleaning your kitchen and then focus intently for that one hour.

Wipe off those custom countertops and mop the floors. (Tip: Don’t ever buy solid black granite countertops for your kitchen; they show every crumb!)

Having a clean home to present to your party guests will make you feel happy and put together.

3. Put Away Valuables

We had an engagement ring go missing after a party one time. Totally vanished, and I never trusted one of the main suspects again. Just awful.

Putting away your valuables is one of the most important parts of party prep.

Parties get rowdy and even if you trust your guests not to take anything, you can never be guaranteed they won’t break something.

It’s a good idea to have a room that’s off limits to the party guests. Tell everyone it’s outside the party zone and they shouldn’t wander in there. This is the room that can store your grandma’s antique vase or your fine china.

Anything you don’t want your guests to see, touch, or break, put in your off-limits room.

4. Have Common Scents

One of the best ways to leave a good impression on your party guests is to have a great-smelling house.

Before the party, invest in candles or air fresheners and make sure they’re lit or plugged in before anyone arrives.

Cinnamon brooms are another fantastic way to get your house smelling wonderful for autumn!

5. Have a Plan for Pets

Make sure you know what you’re going to do with your pets during your house party. Some people may be allergic to cats or afraid of your giant dogs.

It might be a good idea to move pets into your off-limits room for the duration of your party or plan to keep them outside.

If you’re going to annex your pets to one room, be sure you have plenty of food and water for them.
